This kite flying ‘recital’ involves indoor kite flying with no fans to move the air. There are solos, duets and group performances of two and four line kites choreographed air routines to music. ‘Hot Trick Shoot Out’ matches pairs of flyers for comic capers and tricky maneuvers. Dinner includes coleslaw & French bread. Hot dogs for $3 available for children.

Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum will have over 100 quilts on display submitted by Guild members. With the theme “Quilting at the Beach,” there will be a demonstration of various aspects of quilt making. There will be a drawing for this year’s prize quilt, with proceeds going to area charities. Hot Rods line up on Howerton Way at the Port of Ilwaco to compete in a coasting competition. Cars have approximately 15 feet in which to accelerate and then coast for 200 yards. Discovery Trail Half Marathon

Cape Disappointment Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon

The Triathlon course launches from Black Lake Park in Ilwaco, WA and includes a 500 meter swim (1540′), 12.2 mile ride (19.6km), and a 3.1 mile (5k) run!  The park is the transition area for all three legs.

The Duathlon follows the same course excluding the swim, instead it begins with a 1.6 mile run, and will begin when the Triathlon begins. September 20, 2014
